£2500 minimum added. Sunday 4th Jan 2009 Empty Great Tournament

Post by Thundercat Tue Jan 06, 2009 2:33 pm

All in all it was a very good tournament. Alot of very good players attended and with a prize pot of over £24,000 even some of the pros turned out. Our contingent faired pretty good, I may get some of the placements wrong here but they will be close. Kieren was crippled by Howard early in the tournament and was the first to fall by the wayside. Howard then proceeded to give his chips away when a donkey couldnt fold a small pair. Beth, Karen and Aidy went on to defeat over 150 players but eventually got knocked out by donkeys no doubt (Just ask them). I however did rather well ending up on the final table. I went fairly well at the beginning of the comp and didnt have to use my double chance. I busted 2 people at my table within the first couple hands and from there waited for my chance to pounce. The first guy I broke , as I was told after he left the table, was a pro who had finished 2nd in the WPT event in Vegas in 2003 pocketing a cool 1.3 million dollars. So that made me feel pretty good and kind of set the stage for the day. I ran very well all day and hopefully plugged a couple leaks in my game along the way. I took alot of bad beats but I gave out some great ones. I was in a hand with pocket sixes diamond and a spade. I bet out 4 times the pot and was reraised to 8 times the pot. I had been watching this guy for a while and he tended to over value AK preflop so I thought I would make him pay for his draw. I reasied him his entire stack and he calls ( I was not happy) he then flips over 2 queens, dam it the first decent hand this guy gets and I have to bet into him. Flop comes Ad-7d-Qs, Turn is 8d, then River comes 2d...Flush get in baby, he was pissed..Tough..I take them so I am entitled to give them..Nice. I ended up finishing a respectable 8th out of 220 runners and was quite happy to do so considering some of the talent that was playing. Anyway, do get involved in these the next time they are on, if nothing else it is an experience. See you at the tables..
